In view of the continuity of the club and of the good reputation on federal level, since the beginning, the Charles-Quint has directed her formation policy towards the youth. Different tennis teachers have therefore been giving tennis training the last years, going from initiation till advanced courses. Although the tennis
trainings are quantitatively relatively limited, they qualitatively
always had enormous success within the club. Many players who had their debut in
our club do now have a more than respectable ranking. Our two best
representatives (Denis Van Uffelen et Olivier Amerlinkx) did access the
restricted elite of the best 10 Belgian players. Foundation
of a tennis school To adapt to the new
demand, in 1997, our club has decided to extent tennis training
within the philosophy of the tennis club. To achieve this a tennis school was
founded with JP Zicot, certified tennis teacher and actually ranked B-2/6, as
technical director. The objectives are clearly set out: form excellent players for interclub on national level. In order to achieve this it is necessary to build a structure to welcome children at the earliest stage with trainings in psychomotricity, to teach them the technical bases during mini-tennis training, before surrounding and following them during the evolution to their best level. Besides the sportive aspect there is also a policy of financial support for the best players. It is mainly based on their motivation and potential. However, tennis formation takes a long time and often this support only represents a fraction of the training cost. This is the reason why our club seeks for alternative financial means besides those provided by the members themselves. Success
and dynamism
The tennis school undertakes other activities besides tennis to improve the tennis level: friendly games and club championships are regularly organised; J. Leriche (federal technical director) already gave two courses on the service and the double game; trainings with the best club players are set-up.
